Abstract:

We want to explore the difference between yams and sweet potatoes in NYC. Producers and Stores might mislabel them and this can cause many problems, like allergies. Sweet potatoes have more nutrients than yams so consumers are not getting factual information. We want to collect different types of both and compare their DNA to find out exactly what these vegetables are and if the stores are labeling their products correctly.
