Abstract:

The objective of this lab is to determine which pH level has the greatest diversity of species of amphipods living in the bodies of water tested Van Cortlandt Park. At different locations, bodies of water will be tested for their pH value, and then amphipods will be taken from those areas. Their DNA will be collected, copied and identified in order to determine which species these amphipods belong to. Then, the number of species from each pH level will be compared to each other in order to determine the pH with the most diversity of amphipods.
