Abstract:

In this lab, our overall hope is to be able to create a barcode for the plant Zinnia Elegans as well as Zinnia Angustifolia. These plants have yet to be barcoded and cannot be found in the BOLD systems and the Genbank system.3 These Plants are safe to work with and we plan to order them from a reputable scientific company. Since we can find a second plant that is related to the original plant, we will compare the phylogeny of the two plants and learn what the evolutionary relationships are, and learn about their biological traits and identity. We want to do research if they are related in any possible ways and discover whether or not they are used in medicine or have other uses.
