Abstract:

As we step outdoors, we often just see plants as decorations that make this world prettier. However, they hold such a greater importance than that. Plants are the base of our ecosystem; they are what keeps us and other animals alive. Meaning we should protect them from any harm, a world without plants is a world we physically would be able to live in. Many completely disregard this fact and continue to carelessly feed into things like climate change, deforestation, air pollution. As residents in New York, we must do everything in our power to protect its biodiversity, for the sake of our health. Our group will analyze the biodiversity of plants on our usual route to school. By doing this we can see the difference in variety in more populated areas compared to less busy areas. It is important to see the world at many angles, after all it is the environment, we live in and you would not want it to fall apart gradually due to our own actions.
