Abstract:

In this project, we will collect samples of trees in Union Square Park in Manhattan. We will first identify the trees using iNaturalist and then identify them genetically using DNA barcoding techniques. We compare the identified trees to a list of NYC native trees and calculate the percent native trees in Union Square Park.
