Abstract:

Snails are aquatic creatures that leave an important impact on the habitat by leaving nutrients behind them. They take in vegetation and leave nutrients in their feces, helping the aquatic ecosystem in Van Cortlandt Park. In an effort to figure out the types of snails that live in Van Cortlandt Park’s waters, we will collect specimens from three different locations and extract their DNA to find what species they are.
