Abstract:

Our objective is to collect water beetles from different sites in Van Cortlandt Park in order to see which species of water beetle can be found in the different sites. Additionally, we will compare the collected data about the beetles from extracting their DNA to the water quality of each respective site, including nitrites, nitrates, pH, dissolved oxygen. This will help to determine if water quality has an impact on the diversity of water beetle species.
