Abstract:

Bio-indicators are organisms that indicate the quality of the ecosystem in which they reside. Lichen, for example, indicate a strong presence of sulfur dioxide in the atmosphere if they are not found in the environment. In this investigation, we will identify terrestrial bio-indicators found in NYC Parks and seek out any contaminants possibly present.
