Abstract:

The purpose of our experiment is to find the diversity of ants and the differences in diversity in different habitats. Our group is going to do this by traveling to Randall’s Island in New York City, which is an island that contains many different habitats. When there, we will collect ants from these habitats, and then bring them back to the lab. Here we will extract, amplify, and analyze their DNA to figure out which species live in which habitats. After we have our data, we will analyze it to figure out which ants live where, and make conclusions based on those findings.
