Abstract:

New York City’s diverse and massive ant population is hugely beneficial to the ecosystem in their food removal abilities. We aim to lay down a foundation for future research by gathering data on ant species and population from different geographic sites with a secondary impact of variable human interaction. We will travel to Central park and Prospect park to collect samples to help establish a data set on ant diversity that can be followed over time in these specific locations.
