Across NYC and BRF, invasive species are harming the natural environment while different tree species have different effects on the wildlife. The presence of certain trees can hurt or harm the environment, and this is true both in the urban landscape and wild forest. The goal of this project is to compare the differences in tree populations between the two locations, determining their different levels of invasivity and benefits for the environment. We will identify the species that live in both places and compare their effects. The health of both urban and rural ecosystems are important not just for the plants and animals, but also the people who live in and around them. With the knowledge about these trees attained, we can better understand what new trees to plant in NYC and how to help both ecosystems thrive.
