Abstract:

The identification of amphibian tadpoles in Puerto Rico is limited by strong morphological similarity among species, restricting ecological monitoring and early detection of invasive taxa. This project proposes the molecular identification of tadpoles using mitochondrial COI DNA barcoding obtained through exclusively non-invasive sampling methods. The resulting genetic data will support accurate species identification and strengthen ecological and conservation research on Puerto Rican amphibians.
