In our Urban Bar Coding research we aim to identify some of the species found in the communities gardens in the Melrose section of the Bronx or perhaps to discover new ones as was the case with Dr. Rob Dunn, a biology professor at North Carolina State University, whose team discovered the insect. As reported by By New York Post’s Annie Karni on September 2, 2012 : “They discovered a never-before-seen breed of the prehistoric insect living in the Broadway medians at 63rd and 76th streets.” . The three community gardens are: Little Green Garden/Rock Garden located on 160th street and Elton avenue, Melrose New Generation Garden on 160th street and Melrose Avenue and Garden of Life and Health on 157th street and Melrose Avenue. The geographical isolation of these gardens should lead to speciation. Therefore
