Abstract:

We plan to study the biodiversity of aquatic macroinvertebrates acting as bioindicators in NYC parks. Bioindicators are organisms that express the sustainability of environments based on their tolerance of pollutants. Using DNA barcoding, we will identify the sample of macroinvertebrates and then research the identified bioindicators to explain how the environment affects wildlife.
