Abstract:

In this Urban Barcoding project, we aim to investigate one possible factor in honeybee colony collapse: Varroa mites. The primary goal of this research is to determine the factors that cause one hive to be more substantially affected by Varroa mites than another. We will investigate the relationship between honeybee species on its vulnerability to mites, as well as any relationship between Varroa mite subspecies and their effect on their host’s hive.
