Abstract:

Biodiversity is the canary in the cold mine. The decline of insects can be a sign of the decline of other organisms that provide us with nutrition. Biodiversity ensures that in the presence of environmental stresses such as hurricane, or blights, that some organisms may have the ability to survive. Therefore preserving biodiversity is of great importance. . It is our hypothesis that there will be more biodiversity as measured by the different types of species in an unit area in a garden that has been growing seasonally a variety of vegetation when compared to a garden that is only six months old. Both of these gardens are located within the perimeter of our school.
