Abstract:

Our project is to determine how mud crabs (Dyspanopeus sayi) affect the biodiversity of Cold Spring Harbor and how certain actions of theirs affect it in specific ways. Through experimentation and research our group is confident that we will be able to obtain a detailed, correct, and rich conclusion. Biodiversity plays an important role in life on our planet and is studied by many different scientists throughout the world. Mudcrabs seem to have a complex diet and growth phase and could be found across most of North America. My group’s area seems to be an ideal environment for mud crabs as this species is largely abundant and our main question is to find out the abundance of these crabs has an affect on the biodiversity of Cold Spring Harbor overall. Many different hypotheses are present in our experiment and can arise from our questions and we are looking to collect a final answer to debunk these remaining hypotheses and achieve our goal.
