Abstract:

In this study we will investigate differences in genetic diversity between fungal fruiting bodies and lichen thalli in metropolitan areas due to differences in their habitat locations and ecologies. This will be accomplished by DNA barcoding physical specimens of fungi and lichen collected, accompanied by the comparison of the genetic sequences generated. The goal is to identify the impact of anthropogenic influence in metropolitan areas on lichen and fungal populations.
