Abstract:

The goal of our project is to identify and investigate the mollusca in Cold Spring Harbor and how they affect the biodiversity of Cold Spring Harbor. We need to properly identify these mollusca using DNA barcoding to see if these specimens are an invasive species or native to the Cold Spring Harbor area. Many different species have been gathered and the species has been identified, but DNA barcoding can either confirm or deny our assumption. As we investigate the mollusca more, this can lead to a better understanding of the biodiversity in Cold Spring Harbor and how it has changed over time.
