Abstract:

OOur school has been collecting samples and recording the biodiversity of the Peconic River estuary for a few years now. Biodiversity is the measurement of different species on Earth, including the measure of genes, species, and ecosystem levels. The purpose behind this evaluation is to determine the diverse species collected from the Peconic River estuary. Furthermore, we propose that since there has been an increase in genetic diversity, this increases environmental stability as well. Eventually, during the parts of this procedure, we will be sequencing part of the CO1 DNA gene of the species we collected, from which their DNA barcodes will be examined. Overall, this will assist in determining the identity of species in the Peconic River as well as which species could possibly be beneficial, invasive, or parasitic. These organisms may also be indicators of water quality and permit an assessment of the current water quality conditions. The results may provide information to predict an
