Abstract:

Ants are foragers that live in and around leaf litter. Ants are affected by pollution caused by cars including brake dust, soot, and nitrogen oxides. We will show the diversity of ant species in different environments that have different levels of air and soil pollution from car traffic. This experiment will look to identify the different types of ants found in environments that are known for car pollution including nitrogen pollution compared to environments where nitrogen pollution has not been found.
