Abstract:

This project is aimed at using DNA barcoding to identify the major plant species located inside a new nature trail being built at Longwood High School. We hope to identify twenty plant species that are consistent with the pine barrens ecosystem. We will also collect samples we suspect are invasive plant species and we will try to determine whether recently rising temperatures may have caused them to move further north than their normal habitats.
