Abstract:

Teh biodiversity of Massapequa Creek has been a concern for decades. In this experiment, aquatic macroinvertebrates were gathered from various locations and placed inot specimen tubes for DNA barcoding, including those under rocks, living on logs, and in the vegetation or soil of the creek. Macroinvertebrates from this area have been freezing in alcohol for over 2 months. Once the samples are analyzed biochemically, we expect to be able to receive accurate data regarding the biodiversity of Massapequa Creek in recent years.
