Abstract:

Biodiversity is very essential to the survival of humans and ecosystems. Biodiversity can contribute to positive human and ecosystem health and wellbeing, which is why it is essential to maintain biodiversity in these ecosystems. In the Massapequa Preserve, sixteen terrestrial and aquatic macroinvertebrates were collected. These specimens were captured using various tools, including scoopulas, kicknets, and sifters. Afterwards, the specimens were placed in the freezer to preserve them for analysis and data collection with DNA barcoding that will be performed later to help identify and categorize the specimens.
