Flourishing from lakes to rainforests and deserts to polar ice caps, the beetle(or Coleoptera) has been around for almost 300 million years. Within nature, beetles can be found in rotting wood or plants, in carrion, fungi, and feces. The Asian-long-horned beetle is an invasive wood-boring beetle that lives in the Northeastern region of America and kills trees. Our goal is to see if these beetles are prevalent at our collection sites on Long Island, and how different environments will affect the concentration of Asian long-horned beetles. We plan to find the concentration of Asian long-horned beetles by setting up Lindgren traps.
