The diversity of ecosystems is affected by environmental factors. Certain organisms can only survive under specific conditions. As a result, ecosystems in different environments will be able to support different organisms. Ecosystems will vary if they are in urban or suburban areas. For example, factors like population density and pollution levels can affect the pH of water environments. The study is an attempt to discover the potentially harmful effects of an urban environment on the biodiversity of aquatic invertebrates. Samples will be collected from the pond in Central Park in the City and from Hectare Park in Huntington Village. These locations were chosen because of the variability of conditions and vastly different population densities and daily visitors.
