Abstract:

Since 2017, our school has collected samples of the local ant population of Shelter Island, NY. Through these collections, we have been monitoring the ant population and its changes. The collections have also been from different locations on the island, to see how the specific ant population changes between environments. We hope to continue tracking ants, seeing if there are any differences in what was found before and seeing if human interaction or climate change might have brought in some invasive species.
