Abstract:

This project would collect 3 samples of ants from different parks around Nassau County. We are motivated to carry out this project because we are interested to see if noise pollution affects the number of species in a certain area. This is important because testing the effect of noise pollution on the biodiversity of ants will allow us to see the effect of noise pollution. This is also important because it can end up determining if these habitats with high noise pollution are safe for ants. We would use Pecan Sandies to lure the ants over to one location and we would trap them and collect them. We would then barcode the ants, and we would record the data, and we expect the highest amount of biodiversity to be in the location with the least amount of noise pollution, Bay Park.
