Abstract:

We are going to collect samples of Zooplankton near the Sands Point construction site and investigate if the pollution from the construction sites had any negative effects on where the Zooplankton lives. From construction, stormwater runs off from those sites can carry toxic pollutants into the water, so that could also affect the water cleanliness, which could also affect where the Zooplankton lived. We have a designated location at 96 Old House Lane, Sands Point, New York. This location is very active in the population of Zooplankton and has had active sites of construction the past year. Zooplankton will also be collected from water that is not near any construction. Once we find Zooplankton, we are going to use DNA Barcoding to see if the pollution had any effect on Zooplankton.
