Abstract:

Ants are a very important part of many ecosystems in New York. A state park, Hempstead Lake State Park has been undergoing storm runoffs and pollution. This affects water clarity for our project, we are looking to see how this affects the ant groups and their quality of life in the areas that are most polluted areas. We are interested in this because climate change has made heavy storms have become more frequent around the coast. This can affect the groups of ants living in areas and their niches by affecting the water they drink, the moisture in their dens, and the air they are breathing in.
