Abstract:

How does the bacterial biodiversity compare with various locations such as schools, playgrounds, fast food restaurants and hospitals? Do these varied environments affect antibiotic sensitivity in the bacteria populations at these locations? To begin to understand some of the factors that affect relationship between the environments and the types of bacteria present along with their antibiotic resistance, we will conduct an experiment using DNA barcoding to barcode the bacteria found in the numerous locations from two different boroughs of New York City.
