The Anoplophora glabripennis came to America through wood pallets. It has invaded numerous parts of Long Island, specifically Suffolk County (Cohen, 2022). The beetle clings to trees and damages them immensely. Anoplophora glabripennis may affect other arthopod diversity. We hypothesize that the infestation of this beetle is what causes significant damage to the habitats of other insects. We will collect various insect specimens around the areas of Suffolk County to assess the effect of the Anoplophora glabripennis on the population of other insect species. There will be an experimental group and a control group. Out of the four locations, two will host the experimental and the other two the control. The two experimental locations will have markings on the trees that indicate of an Anoplophora glabripennis infestation (U.S. Department of Agriculture, 2022), and the other two groups, the control groups, will not have any signs of infestation.
